By downloading, accessing, or using the Altar: Bible & Study app ("Altar", "the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Altar Pro is available as a monthly auto-renewable subscription. Church Pro pricing varies by plan.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, depending on the platform where you buy the subscription.
The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the current subscription plan.
Subscriptions can be managed and auto-renewal can be turned off through your App Store or Google Play account settings after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region. Prices are subject to change, but we will notify you in advance of any price increases.
Pastors may create a church within Altar using a unique invite code. By creating a church, the pastor agrees to:
Members may join a church using an invite code provided by their pastor. Church membership data (your name, reading progress, and check-ins) is visible to other members of the same church.
If a founding pastor deletes their account or church, the church and all associated data (readings, daily plans, check-ins) will be permanently deleted for all members.
AI-powered features — including verse explanations, chapter summaries, and Study Room conversations — are generated by an AI language model via OpenRouter and are provided for informational and devotional purposes only. These responses should not be treated as authoritative theological doctrine and are not a substitute for pastoral counsel, professional advice, or personal study of Scripture.
Free users receive one free AI-generated study use per day. Altar Pro subscribers receive unlimited generated study access. Availability and quotas are subject to change.
Users agree to use the app and its features solely for Bible study, theology, spiritual inquiry, and church engagement. Misuse includes but is not limited to:
Altar can be used without creating an account. Data created without an account is stored locally on your device. If you later create an account, your local data will be synced to our servers. You are responsible for backing up any data stored only on your device.
Bible texts included in the app are sourced from public domain translations. The app's design, name, branding, and AI-powered features are the intellectual property of the developer.
The app and all content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. The developer shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of the app or reliance on AI-generated content.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
